Last Christmas, my sister taught my daughter to crochet and she became a whiz.
My munchkin has made her fair share of scarves. This vacation alone she made two in one week.
This year, I wanted to teach myself how to knit. I bought an introductory kit and began reading the book. After many attempts, frustration, anger, and whining, I finally got the hang of it.
On Christmas Eve, my sister taught me how to "purl". For those whom don't knit, it's
knitting jargon for the opposite of knitting. It took me nearly the two weeks to get the purple scarf completed. To help myself feel efficient, I crocheted a scarf (in two days)just after finishing the knitted scarf. I started knitting my third scarf that will have "purling" in it.

You taught yourself?! That's hard to do. :o) Good job!
