Meet the Newest Member of Our Family

We were finally ready to get a new pet after losing Chase to a heart attack this summer.
We really wanted to save an animal. We looked at various shelters looking for a doggie that
would like all of us. We found him. His name is Dexter, and he is a pit bull mix. I was afraid of getting a pit bull, but after meeting Dex, fear flew out the window.

Dexter's story:

He was taken to the Pomona Humane Society along with all his brothers and sisters. He is approximately 3 months old. Unfortunately, he received an injury to his head, had worms, was dehydrated and very sad when he arrived at the shelter. The vets there took very good care of him. He was treated for his injury that is healing nicely, de-wormed, given antibiotics for kennel cough, given plenty of food and water and prepared for adoption. I picked him up Thursday night and the ride home was stressful for him (and me). Poor thing panicked. He is happy now and doing very well on his two medications. We are working hard training him to pee and poop in the yard, not bite our shoes and hands (he's teething) and obey simple commands. He is a lot of hard work, but we are happy to have saved a life. We hope to give pit bulls a better reputation by raising this little one to be polite.
