Early Mother's Day Sale

I've decided to have an Early Mother's Day Sale at Goya Designs.  Now, there is no reason to miss out on any jewelry that you've been eyeing for yourself or your mom.  Momma's begin making your wish list and hand it over to hubby, son, sister, or treat yourself.  It's the one day  that  moms allow themselves to indulge in special treats.  It'll be even easier to indulge knowing that it was on sale.  Hubby, son, or brother surprise a momma in your life with some handcrafted, original jewelry.
I posted just a few pictures, but actually all the jewelry is 15% off.  I also lowered the shipping and handling charges to add to your savings.  Place your orders early so they are delivered in time for your special day.
This sale will run until Mother's Day on May 10th.  However, I don't recommend waiting 'til then or your jewelry won't be delivered in time.
The silver scroll and the lapiz necklaces are 35% off the original price.

Two Bead Sets and Green Pizza

These two bead sets will be added to my etsy shop later on today, but I had to share them with you all before they went up.  I am having lots of fun making my own beads and using a variety of colors.  The details are surprisingly rewarding and give the beads special flare. The top set is all about being bold and loving it.  The bottom set is for all you bird and flower lovers.  I particularly like the little brownish egg that comes along with this set.  The sparrow on the red bead is the momma.
An eatable creation.  How many of you heard or were a part of a pre-dinner conversation similar to this:

Kid: "I don't wanna eat that. It's gross and I don't like it. Can we go to McDonalds?"

Mom: "No we can't. How do you know it's gross when you haven't even tried it:/ I worked hard to make this.
This isn't a restaurant. You will eat what I make, or go hungry."

Kid: "I don't like this. I'm not eating. (arms folded) It's gross!  I'm hungry!"

Mom: "If you were hungry then you'd eat it instead of complaining."

Kid: "No, it's gross! "

The ending might be different depending on how your
parents handled it. The worst part is that now I'm the mom
telling my kids to eat or go hungry. I'm the one trying to
convince my kids that my food is better than fast food.

This frustration lead me to a bright idea. I bought pizza
dough from my local pizzaria (under $3) and each of my
munchkins gets a personal pizza. On pizza night, my house
does become a restaurant and the best part is that the kids
are the cooks. I just go buy the ingredients and they make
their own pizza, can't get more personal than that. Depend-ing
on my budget the number of ingredients will vary. We all
made our own green pizza this time.  What makes it green
is using pesto sauce instead of marinara. Some wanted
the works, while the youngest wanted his plain.
Dinner made easy, I avoided one dreadful dinner feud, and
we all ate happily ever after....at least on that night. Yikes!
If you have any great dinner ideas, please post a comment and lets us in on it.

My Brown Eyed Girl: Brina

As promised, here is Brina Peg Doll showcasing her big brown eyes right before her water polo game.  She is all smiles because she knows her team is strong and ready to win.
The doll construction process was fairly smooth, that is until I went to varnish the eyes and the mascara and eye liner bled onto the white of her eyes, face and hair.  I was so distraught because I spent more time on the eyes than on anything else.  I used a fine tip "permanent" marker....so I thought.
After seeing my masterpiece ruined, and after telling myself, "What the HECK!  It's gonna be alright.  It's gonna be alright, just breath."  And after saying a quick prayer, "Jesus, please don't let this be wrecked.  Give me the skill to fix this."  He did.  The blunder was fixed, although, Brina did not wear such heavy makeup originally.  After repainting most of her upper face, I ran...no really, I ran....to the marker I used and it was indeed "dry erase" not "permanent" marker that I had used.  This is what I get for saying that I had not run into any bumps on road on this project.  Live and Learn, right?   Other than the hiccup that I created, the project went well.
Here's Brina after the game.
On a different note.  Have you ever wanted to sing along to a new or old song, but didn't know all the words?  I found this cool website called Lyrics.com where you can find your songs of choice and sing along.  I now know the lyrics to Abba's "Chiquitita" and Blondie's "Heart of Glass".  Do you think my teens would be stunned if I learned a Paramore song and just chimed in as they listen to it on the radio?

Winner of My Give Away and Fun Stuff

The winner of the SPRING GIFT NECKLACE is.......imagine a drum roll please....
The Robins Nest. Yeah, yuppie, hurray! Ms. Robins Nest,
please leave your email on the comment section of this blog.
I will email you to obtain your shipping address.
I want to thank all of you who entered to win and I hope to have
more Give Aways in the future. It was fun and encouraging
to read all of your comments.

My youngest munchkin brought this home from school. We have
all colored eggs, but I thought his teacher was so cleaver to glue a
water bottle cap to the bottom. Now his Easter egg stands up perfectly.
The egg was also sprayed with a clear coat of poly so his art work
is sealed. Kudos to my munchkin's teacher. He made the basket
too. Alas, the candy didn't make the camera shoot.
Now, for all of you who want to learn how to create jewelry using wire (ie. wire wrapping), this book is my favorite.  All Wired Up has really been the only jewelry book that I continue to reference.  If any of you are wanting to purchase beads and make your own creations, this book can be very helpful.
More fun projects!  I purchased a peg doll kit from pretty ditty (about a mo. ago) and I am getting around to constructing the dollies.  So far, so good.  The instructions are very straight forward and I have not come across any bumps on the road.  They might not have faces yet, but at least they aren't naked.  My teenage son said I was weird to put undergarments on them, but I think it's lady-like.  The tan Brina Peg Doll is wearing her water polo suit and will hopefully have a ball to take to her game.  Brina will also have a cute dress to change into after her team wins the game.  The second dollie is still missing an identity.
This is how cute the dollies are suppose to look like.  Uh, yeah, well...I'll do my best anyway.

More Spring Fever

I had more pictures to share during one of our trips to Disney this Spring Break.  Here is that merry-go-round that my stomach can't handle.  I made sure to snap a picture before it began spinning.  My little guy loved it.
Wanting to capture non landmark Disney photos lead me to find shops and areas that we had never found before.  We all enjoyed our new adventure in the park.  The petting area was lots of hands on fun, but we did not know it was mating season.  Duh! It is Spring. I guess city folks don't consider these things.  My husband and I decided to leave before we were forced to explain the birds and the bees in such a public place to our young son.  The teenagers around us, found the goat behavior very amusing, so they stuck around.
Down below, Mr. Munchkin found a nook in Minnie's House that was not a well known landmark and I captured my cutie at the foot of Minnie's stairs.
Some might be on Spring Break this week based on the lack of comments on my most recent blogs.  Enjoy your vacation and see if you can find a twist in whatever it is you do.  Purposely looking for a new perspective made a known location, new and fresh for us, maybe it'll do the same for you.
